4. Listen actively

Actively! To hear God you must actively wait and meditate upon His Word.

Colossians 3:16 - “Let the word of God dwell in
you richly, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
song, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

If you know the Word only selectively, if you dwell on one particular
favorite subject, you fail to seek the whole counsel of God. The way
you become wealthy and overflowing with the truth of the Word is
to meditate upon Scripture, search it out, digest it, and apply it to
your heart. This is so important!

You need to read the Word of God actively. God is so precise in the
instructions and the promises He gives through His Word. Meditation
upon God’s Word is a most wonderful way to listen to the voice of
        God for divine guidance.

        5. Listen confidently.

You must be confident that, when you listen to God, you will hear
what you need to hear. It may not always be what you wish to hear,
but God communicates to you what is essential in your walk with Him.

Answer this question. Would you withhold information from your
children that they would need to possess in order to be obedient to
your instructions? Would you tell them, “Here’s what I want you to
do.”, and then not provide them with the information? Certainly not!

Matthew 7:11 - The Lord Jesus said, “If you then,
being evil, know how to give good gifts to your
children, then how much more will your Father Who
is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him.”

You must be confident that when you listen to God -- you will hear
        what you need to hear.
