Page 6 - A Name You Can Trust
P. 6
Foreword
A book is nothing more than words on pages that have
been bound together. That is true, unless, of course, you
pick the book up and begin to read it. Then that book begins
to take on a life of its own. As you ponder its meaning, it
lives inside you and shapes your outlook, your attitude, your
perspective, your very heart.
Why is that true? Why do books influence people? I think
it is true because people are social creatures by nature. We
enjoy visiting with each other. We seek to know what others
are thinking. Another's true feelings enrich our lives. When
we read, we sense that we are somehow getting in on the
inside of a person's heart. And we are! The pen of the author
gives our world view new dimensions. It is something
personal. It is something precious.
Someone has said, "It is easy to write. Just sit down at a
typewriter and open a vein." Dr. David Davis has done just
that. He has opened a vein and we are the richer for it.
Through these pages you will read spiritual truths from a
master storyteller. You will see into the storyteller's heart;
but more importantly, you will get a fresh glimpse into the
heart of God.
You will also see God in a way that you may have never
imagined...personal, caring, loving, and significantly ... still
on the throne, not only of the world, but of your life as well.
May these pages reflect the nature and character of God that
will prove to be an encouragement to you each day that you
live for Him. We do serve a God with A Name You Can Trust!
